"Sandwiches are wonderful. You don't need a spoon or a plate!"
-Paul Lynde
A sandwich is a food item consisting of two or more slices of bread with one or more fillings between them. Sandwiches are a widely popular type of lunch food, typically taken to work, school, or picnics to be eaten as part of a packed lunch. The bread can be used as it is, or it can be coated with any condiments to enhance flavor and texture. They are also widely sold in restaurants and cafes, served hot or cold.
It was in the 18th – century, during a challenging card game that John Montagu, the fourth Earl of Sandwich invented this snack. As he didn't want to leave the game table to have a proper meal, his servant layered some meat between two slices of bread and so sandwiches were born.
